Not Out of Reach!

There are times in life where you feel like you’ve messed up so badly that there is no way you could ever show your face around people again. You think there’s no way anyone will ever forgive you. Peter, one of Jesus’ disciples, felt this way. Peter was one of the most headstrong disciples that followed Jesus. You’ve heard of people that don’t have a filter? That was Peter. There was one time toward the end of Jesus’ life that Peter was being headstrong again. Jesus told His disciples that they all would run away deny Him. Peter didn’t believe this. He told Jesus that even if everyone else denied Him he wouldn’t ever deny knowing Him! Jesus told Peter that before the rooster crowed he would deny Him three times. You have to understand that Peter had been with Jesus for the last three years. He had seen all the miraculous things Jesus did. How can anyone deny that? That’s what Peter did. He denied Jesus, and it tells us that when Peter denied Jesus, he remembered what Jesus said and he wept bitterly. Peter knew he messed up badly, and now Jesus was gone. Peter didn’t know what to do, so he went back to work as a fisherman. Peter thought there was no way that he could be forgiven for what he had done. There are too many times in life where we think there is no way to be forgiven, that we’ve messed up so badly. Peter thought that, but that’s not where it ended. Jesus came to Peter and asked him three times if he loved Him. All three times Peter said that Jesus knew that he loved Him. Jesus forgave Peter. There is nothing that you can do that will make Jesus stop loving you. God doesn’t ask us to hold grudges; God doesn’t ask us to get revenge. That’s not our place. What He does call us to do is to forgive and forget. You may think that what you’ve done in your life is too horrible for Jesus to forgive you. That couldn’t be further from the truth. What Jesus did on that cross with His arms stretched out, that’s how much he loves you. He takes the unforgivable and makes it forgivable. There’s not one of us on this earth that deserves forgiveness, but God gives it freely and willingly through His Son Jesus Christ. It just takes us asking for it. It’s like in those action movies where someone is hanging from a cliff and someone reaches their hand down and grabs them and saves their life. That’s what Jesus wants to do for you. You might be hanging from that cliff losing your grip. All you have to do is reach out for His hand, and He’ll save you.

God Bless You;
